If you know me, you most likely already know about Ganapati.
Ganapati Restaurant & Ganapati Take Away are the home of South Indian Cuisine in Peckham, South London. Beyond that Ganapati is a family and once you have worked at Ganapati or become a regular customer you become part of that family. Both Oscar and I used to work there, I worked there first, mostly as a team member at the restaurant for the best part of 2 years, with ocassional shifts at the take away. And Oscar worked for a summer at the take away as the bicycle delivery person!
Aside from the incredible food, Ganapati is made by the people who are part of it and I am very grateful to have those people in my life!
Everyone at Ganapati have been enthusiatically campaigning on my behalf, there are posters about the Chance4Charlie campaign in both the restaurant and the takeaway and customers are encouraged to donate during each visit.
To date Ganapati Restaurant has made an incredible £1,653.00 through collecting and Ganapati Take has made £2000. So Ganapati has raised an overwhelming £3,653.00 directly from collecting and much more through awareness! Thank you Ganapati staff and customers! Sending you all eternal love and gratitude.
Many customers have also been donating online!
The fundraising poster is placed all around the restaurant. Here it is placed with an elephant and a rat as a symbol of Ganesha and his vahana. Ganesh is the remover of obstacles.
"Ganesha, also spelled Ganesh, also called Ganapati, elephant-headed Hindu god of beginnings...His vehicle (vahana) is the large Indian bandicoot rat, which symbolizes Ganesha’s ability to overcome anything". (https://www.britannica.com/topic/Ganesha)
I couldn't find any pictures of me at work but here is one of Oscar ready to deliver some food around South East London!
